[A Flintloque Reloaded Scenario for Three Players]

Introduction

War or no war, the inhabitants of the county of Wheatwal continue their age old practices of "Free Trade" with Catalucia , Al-Garvey  and the other states on the Karenia Sea. With the onset of hostilities, produce from Empire of Mordred have become particularly sort after, notably Mordredian Bandy (named for its effects on the legs of frequent consumers), and Chapspain (know colloquially as "Fizzy"), another renowned Elfish beverage.

The illicit supply of such wares by the infamous "Free Trader" Adzam Spitzth, has  come to the attention of the Authorities. Having been appropriately reassured as to the vital necessity of such covert trade, they duly ignored the matter.

Unfortunately, the very night of a particularly large shipment, an over-eager Militia Lieutenant has insisted on leading his Section on a  coastal patrol...

Map & Setup

There is no map for this scenario. The table should be setup to represent a turbulent sea with a beach. Above it looms a gentle cliff face, in which is a cave entrance. The cave entrance should be near the centre of the table and the Jolly Boat should be placed on the shoreline opposite the this. Adzam Spitzth and Squire Orkinds Orcs are distributed randomly between the boat and the cave entrance (the cave is only 10 cm deep and is only used as a temporary store).  Bork deploys on the cliff. The cliff is not steep, but counts as difficult going for anyone going up or down it so they suffer a three column shift penalty when on the cliff. Bork may send the Sergeant with up to five "picked men" to enter from either the northerly or southerly edge of the beach who appear later on in the game (see 'A Walk on The Sand' rules below).  Twenty barrels of booze should be dumped everywhere between the cave and the jolly boat.

Scenario Objectives

The Smugglers are in two groups, the first are the sailors led by Adzam Spitzth who deliver the goods, whilst the second is led by Squire Orkinds carry it away and distribute it on land.

Spitzth

Spitzth' aim is to get his payment (currently in the hands of the Squire) and escape to his ship The Black Wolf via the jolly boat. Saving at least some of his crew would be an advantage, although the fate of Orkinds is no concern of his.

Squire Orkinds

Orkinds aim is to escape with the gold, as many of his Orcs, and any barrels he can.

Lieutenant Bork

Borks aim is to kill as may smugglers as possible and bring in the ring leaders.

Game Length

The game continues until one of the sides had completed thier objective.

Victory Conditions

Spitzh wins if he manages to get his gold from Orkinds, get to the Jolly Boat and escape off any seabound table edge. Orkinds wins if he manages to keep hold of his gold and escape off the Northen or Southern table edge with at least six barrels. Bork wins if he manages to kill or route both Spitzth and Orkinds.

Scenario Special Rules

Barrels of Grogge: Any of the barrels can be picked up by Orcs. They count as large improvised weapons. Whilst carrying them Orcs suffer a two column shift penalty to movement.

The Demon Drinke: During the game Bork's Orcs (but not Bork himself) are subject to the temptation rules found in the Alternative Armies supplement “Distractions & Asides 1. The Demon Drinke” which can be found in the files section of Alternative Armies Notables Yahoo group. The smugglers are too concerned with escaping to worry about the booze.

The Jolly Boat: It takes at least two crew to row the boat. Due to the choppy sea the boat moves at 2cm per turn, it moves an additional 1 cm for each additional rower (up to a maximum of 4 rowers in total). Rowers may perform no other action in the turn. Wounded rowers row at half speed. Shooting from a rowed boat gives a two column shift penalty.

Throwing Rocks: Any of the characters may throw rocks as per Alternative Armies supplement “Distractions & Asides 2. Thrown Rocks & Knives” which can be found in the files section of Alternative Armies Notables Yahoo group. For this scenario no roll is required to find rocks to throw as there is an abundance of loose rocks from the cliff as well as the occasional large shell. These rocks can also be used as small improvised weapons as per the normal rules.

A Walk Along the Sand: If Bork's player chooses to send his sergeant and some men down to the beach roll 1d6 each turn. On a roll of 5 or 6 they appear from either table edge on the beach (players decision).

Wylde Magicke: Both players should roll for magical abilities for each of their characters as per Alternative Armies supplement “Optional Rules for Magicke in Flintloque” which can be found in the files section of Alternative Armies Notables Yahoo group.
